Accounting Manager – Coatesville, PA

Summary: Kamps is hiring an Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team at our Coatesville, PA location. The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards for the Coatesville, PA pallet plant and 2 sawmills in Virginia. This role will collaborate with other departments to streamline processes, maintain financial controls, and support management in making informed financial decisions to drive business success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results, including profit and loss statements and balance sheet analysis
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and present actionable insights to senior and plant management to improve financial performance
  • Prepare internal financial reports for department heads, offering analysis on cost control, manufacturing throughput and cost, fixed asset needs and requisitions, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Manage the monthly and year-end closing process, ensuring all accounting entries are accurate and completed on time
  • Responsible for all local accounting functions, financial systems, and general ledger functions.   This includes preparation of monthly report packs to Kamps Corporate within the defined timelines.
  • Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Ensure proper documentation and backup for all transactions, supporting internal and external audit requirements
  • Supervise (TBD) the cost accounting function, including overseeing cost allocations, product costing, and inventory valuations, quantity and quality, accuracy, efficiency, and thoroughness of monthly inventory counts
  • Monitor inventory levels, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing variances to ensure accurate cost reporting
  • Collaborate with the Financial Business Partner, production and operations teams to ensure standard costs are accurate and relevant
  • Oversee local accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring that vendor and customer cash transactions and balances are recorded timely and properly
  • Lead and mentor a team of XX employees that support accounting (& others? HR, IT, Customer Service, etc.), providing guidance, support and development as needed
  • Oversee training initiatives to ensure the team stays current with accounting principles, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly financial forecasts, and strategic plans
  • Work closely with other departments, such as operations, procurement, and HR, to provide financial insights and ensure alignment with business objectives

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting within a manufacturing environment, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, cost accounting, and inventory management
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
